Lyrics

Ole boy went sailing down the river
To find a new place to live
To start a new life
Find a pretty little lady
Make some pretty little kids

So he sailed on down to Florida
To get his taste of the beach
For such magical sights
Who'd thought a soul would be so mean
He thought heading opposite his old mate
Would be the right way to go
But all a lonely man attracts
Are just other lost, lonely souls

So grab a hold of you lover
Let them into your mind
Give them time to think it over
Before this world eats you/them alive
You leave them far behind

Then he hopped a plane to Phoenix
To breathe the desert air
Saw the most beautiful girls in the world
But he/they didn't seem to care
Got a call from back home
Saying "this is are shot"
So after a backhand to the face
Another plane our ole boy hopped
He came home to a con man
Had to catch up on the bills
Lost sight of himself again
In Wichita still

So goes the story of an old boy
Sailing down the river deep
Putting his dreams in his back pocket
He falls down and lies to sleep
